Thistle Food Delivery Review | Eating Healthy Can Be Delicious

Thistle Food Delivery Review

Thistle is a subscription service that sends out full meals. They are a health focused service that creates primarily plant based breakfast, lunch, and dinners. Each week customers can choose meals that have plant or animal protein, as well as a load of juices and snacks. I couldn’t wait to try Thistle as the meals on their site looked yummy.

Healthy Meals Made Easy

Thistle makes it very easy to start your subscription. Select your meal types and whether you want it 3, 4, or 5 days a week. You can see the meals each week as they are specifically designed to the time of year. Each meal came to around $11- $13 based on the calculations I made (not bad for ready made healthy meals that are delivered to your door!)

For those customers like me who like a little meat, Thistle offers protein for a small extra cost. I decided to add the meat since I have not been a vegetarian for quite some time.

Stone Fruit & Coconut Smoothie Bowl

Stone Fruit & Coconut Smoothie Bowl

Breakfast Friday, July 7th

This was a super yummy way to start off. I admit it took me longer than I would like to figure out which meal was supposed to be my breakfast. The other meals display which day you should eat them at the bottom, but this one was hidden amongst the writing. The combination of Stone Fruit and Coconut went perfectly with the smoothie bowl (they come separately so the fruit and coconut stay fresh).

Thistle Enchiladas with Summer Veggie Ceviche & Pulled Pork

Thistle Enchiladas with Summer Veggie Ceviche & Pulled Pork

Lunch Friday, July 7th

This was good, but it didn’t blow me away. I was glad that I added the pulled pork as I think it actually added to the meal. I don’t like using too much sauce, but I felt this meal needed more to add a bit more flavor.

Caponata Siciliana Pasta With Lemon Chicken

Caponata Siciliana Pasta With Lemon Chicken

Dinner, Friday, July 7th

This meal was good. I guess it’s hard to mess up pasta, but the Caponata was very flavorful. I would almost go as far as to say that it was a little too flavorful. It was very filling though and easily enough food.

Lemon Poppy Seed Protein Muffin With Vanilla Almond Butter

Lemon Poppy Seed Protein Muffin With Vanilla Almond Butter

Breakfast, Saturday, July 8th

Honestly, this was my least favorite meal of the box. The Muffin was super dense and a bit soggy. The vanilla almond butter was not very good and I ended up drinking the almond and vanilla bean juice instead. The juice was absolutely amazing. I am now hooked on the stuff.

Juice Pulp Falafel With Garlic Tahini with Harissa Chicken

Juice Pulp Falafel With Garlic Tahini with Harissa Chicken

Lunch Saturday, July 8th

This patty like falafel made me nervous at first, but after the first bite I was in heaven. I found that the garlic tahini and juice falafel were a beautiful combination of flavors. I ordered Harissa Chicken as an add on with this meal but it was definitely not necessary. I recommend skipping the protein on this meal as you won’t even notice it missing.

Thistle Black Bean Beet Burger With Garlic Shrimp

Thistle Black Bean Beet Burger With Garlic Shrimp

Dinner, Saturday, July 8th

I added protein (shrimp) to this meal but after trying it I don’t think it was really necessary. The beet and bean burger was really good, especially when you dipped it in the avocado cilantro-chipotle aloe. They suggest heating but I had it cold and loved it anyway. I was the perfect level of fullness at the end.

I had the chocolate mousse for dessert and discovered that vegan, dairy free mouse isn’t the same as normal chocolate mousse. I gave it to my vegan friend who did seem to enjoy it quite a bit.

Thistle Food Delivery Review Summary

Rating 9.4

The Thistle food subscription targets vegans and vegetarians, but I would easily recommend it to all types of eaters. The majority of the meals were beyond stellar, and even when one was a miss it was easily supplemented with the other goodies included. The best part is I never felt bloated or sick after these meals—the portions were spot on. If you are looking for healthier meals that still taste great, Thistle is a good start.
