Deck Of Scarlet Review

Tired of boring makeup? Deck of Scarlet, in conjunction with tendsetting YouTubers, creates an adventurous, limited edition makeup palette every two months and sends it straight to your door.  This month, get your sexy on with the help of YouTube and instagram celeb, Evon Wahab, who uses sunny brights, power browns, and charred-greens to enhance your assets.  Our box costs $29.95.

Our First Box

Pretty packaging made us ooh and ah when our black box arrived.  Inside, we were taken aback to find orange Sunshine face pigment and Corral Kisses for lips.  Face it: this is definitely not for the faint of heart.  Our heavy-duty cardboard palette, complete with a mirror, also contained practical eye shadow in Fudge, a forest green Mermaid eye shadow, glittery highlighter in Halo, Sandstorm cheek color, and Almond lip color.  Desirable Chameleon eyeliner and Cake Pop lip liner accompanied the palette, which only showcases Deck of Scarlet’s brand.

Paper was part of the mix, too.  A handwritten note from Team Scarlet, an introduction to this month’s Artist-In-Chief, Evon Wahab, and a general welcome card familiarize you with the brand.  Missing: written instructions on what each tile is and how to use it.  For that, we had to go to their website.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Well-coordinated colors to create multiple looks
  • Every palette is unique
  • Affordable – their full size palettes are valued at $150, but you only pay $29.95
  • Online tutorials with a popular YouTuber
  • Cruelty Free
  • Paraben Free
  • Made in the United States

Cons

  • Palette composed of sturdy cardboard, which won’t last long
  • Only a sheet of plastic protects your colors from smearing the mirror or the box
  • Some colors may be too out there for you
  • No brushes enclosed to apply products
  • Web access needed for their online tutorials and product descriptions

We recommend the Deck of Scarlet box to customers who:

  • Look for Different Ways to Enhance their Looks
Coordinated colors and online tutorials make it easy to design new looks.  Amp it up with Coral Kisses or tone it down with Almond lip color.
  • Want Affordable Makeup
Buying a lip liner and an eyeliner alone could easily run you the cost of one box.  Given a face full of options here, if you’re not a fan of one or two selections, it’s not a big loss.
  • Don’t Know How to Shop for Cosmetics
Overwhelmed by all the in-store choices?  This subscription distills them into a well-coordinated palette to help create a range of casual to date night to avant garde looks.
  • Want to Keep up with Trends
Deck of Scarlet combs the internet for the hottest new looks, designs a palette to create them and delivers it to you.

Deck of Scarlet Review

Deck of Scarlet a fun, affordable way to easily create new makeup looks with their branded products.  We loved the fact that all of their products are paraben free.  While the radical Sunshine pigment first reminded us of clowns, it blended in nicer than expected. We don’t leave home without the Chameleon eyeliner, which gently enhances our peeps. Highlight with Halo for a subtle shimmer under the stars.  Take a chance, and try something new. Having a popular YouTuber show you how to do it, helps.  Deck yourself out with this affordable subscription every other month.
